Opening Ceremony of the “School of Gender Activists” and Panel Discussion within the framework of the International Women’s Day celebration — March 7, 2023, Dushanbe

The event began with a welcoming speech by the Director of the NGO “Gender and Development,” Nargis Saidova. Then, the high-level guests delivered their opening remarks:
• Khilolbi Qurbonzoda, Chairperson of the Committee for Women and Family Affairs under the Government of the Republic of Tajikistan (Кумитаи кор бо занон ва оилаи назди Ҳукумати Ҷумҳурии Тоҷикистон);
• Sezin Sinanoglu, UN Resident Coordinator in Tajikistan;
• Raimundas Karoblis, Ambassador of the European Union to Tajikistan.
As part of the event, a panel discussion was held on the topic “DigitALL: Innovation and Technology for Gender Equality,” during which women from Tajikistan’s IT sector shared their opinions, cases, opportunities, and success stories, answering the question of how exactly innovations and technologies contribute to gender equality.
Graduates of the first “School of Gender Activists” presented “The Role and Place of Gender Activists in Promoting Gender Equality,” spoke about their experience participating in the school, and how they apply the knowledge gained. The event concluded with a discussion between graduates and experts about the activities of the School of Gender Activists within the framework of the second phase of the Spotlight Initiative Program.
