Woman in Islam

Given that more than 90% of Tajikistan’s population practices Islam, there is an urgent need to highlight gender equality initiatives within the context of Islamic faith, so that women’s rights are not dismissed a priori due to misconceptions about culture and religion.
Moreover, women’s advocacy for their rights is not merely a modern phenomenon, but a well-documented part of Muslim history throughout the centuries.

The training focused on the history of human rights protection and provided knowledge on how women’s rights are upheld both in religious contexts and in secular countries, specifically in Tajikistan.
