On 30 September 2023, the NGO “Gender and Development” organized the National Forum titled “Youth for Gender Equality” in Dushanbe. The Forum was held within the framework of the joint European Union and United Nations “Spotlight Initiative,” in cooperation with the Committee on Women and Family Affairs under the Government of the Republic of Tajikistan and the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA).
Prior to the Forum, in the program’s pilot districts (Dushanbe, Isfara, Hisor, Vose, Yovon, Rudaki, and Bobojon Ghafurov), meetings were held among the population and activists to discuss ideas, proposals, and initiatives for achieving gender equality and related issues. These meetings involved more than 300 young people.
The National Forum gathered more than 50 youth and activists from 6 pilot districts of the project and Dushanbe.
The opening speeches were delivered by First Deputy Chair of the Committee on Women and Family Affairs under the Government of Tajikistan Firuza Nurullozoda, UNFPA Reproductive Health Analyst Ravshan Tokhirov, and Head of the CSO Advisory Group under the Spotlight Initiative Guljahon Bobosodikova.
Youth from the regions shared their opinions, visions, initiatives, and abilities to contribute to the promotion of gender equality at the local level.
To determine the team to represent Tajikistan at the international forum in Astana, the participants were divided into 9 teams of 4 people each. Each team presented its project to the jury within the allotted time.
As a result, the “Mental Health” team won third place, the “Positive Masculinity” team won second place, and the “Preparedness of Women and Men for Family Life” team won first place and received an invitation to participate in the international forum.
30 сентября 2023 года в Душанбе Общественная организация «Гендер и развитие» провела Национальный форум под названием «Молодёжь за гендерное равенство». Форум был организован в рамках совместной инициативы Европейского Союза и Организации Объединённых Наций — «Луч Света», в сотрудничестве с Комитетом по делам женщин и семьи при Правительстве Республики Таджикистан и Фондом ООН в области народонаселения (ЮНФПА).
До проведения форума в пилотных районах программы (Душанбе, Исфара, Гиссар, Восе, Ёвон, Рудаки и Бободжон Гафуров) среди населения и активистов, для обсуждения идей, предложений и инициатив по достижению гендерного равенства и связанных с ним вопросов, были проведены встречи с участием более 300 молодых людей.
В Национальном форуме приняли участие более 50 молодых людей и активистов из 6 пилотных районов проекта и г. Душанбе.
На открытии форума выступили первый заместитель председателя Комитета по делам женщин и семьи при Правительстве РТ Фирӯза Нуруллозода, аналитик ЮНФПА по вопросам репродуктивного здоровья Равшан Тоҳиров и руководитель Консультативного совета ОГО при инициативе «Луч Света» Гулджаҳон Бобосидикова.
Молодые люди, приехавшие из регионов, поделились на форуме своим мнением, видением, а также инициативами и возможностями внести вклад в продвижение гендерного равенства на местном уровне.
Для определения команды, которая будет представлять Таджикистан на международном форуме в г. Астана, участники были разделены на 9 команд по 4 человека. Каждая команда в отведённое время представила свои проекты перед жюри.
В результате команда «Психическое здоровье» заняла третье место, команда «Позитивная мужественность» — второе место, а команда «Подготовка женщин и мужчин к семейной жизни» заняла первое место и получила приглашение участвовать в международном форуме.
At the end of the Forum, all participants were presented with souvenirs and certificates of active participation.
— “Participation in the project activities allowed me to first of all change my own ideas and views, and start active awareness-raising among my friends, especially among boys. I hope such events will be held more often, especially for men,” said Sukhrobjon Sodiqov from Bobojon Ghafurov district, Sughd Region.
— “My participation in the National Forum ‘Youth for Gender Equality’ gave me the opportunity to make new friends from other regions. The Forum was a step forward for me, and now I will proudly represent Tajikistan at the international forum in Astana! I hope in the future to start addressing equality issues beginning with my own family!” said Aziizova Samiya from Rudaki district.
— “Evaluating 9 ideas and projects of young people was very challenging for us, the jury members. Each one reflected innovation and the energy of youth. My impression of the younger generation has grown, and I am confident they will help us achieve our goals,” said Guljahon Bobosodikova, gender expert.
The Spotlight Initiative is a global, multi-year partnership between the European Union and the United Nations aimed at eliminating all forms of violence against women and girls by 2030.
